Dr Ian Graham – Chief Executive, Momentum
 
Dr Ian Graham is Chief Executive of Momentum, the Northern Ireland Trade Association for the information technology and telecommunications industry sectors.
Ian has a BSc in Electronics Engineering and a PhD from Queen’s University, Belfast, where he has also spent nine years lecturing with a research focus on artificial intelligence
 
He has extensive commercial experience, having worked for ICI and Ford Motor Company before joining Unibol, a company which developed system software products where he became Managing Director.
 
In early 2001, Ian joined Invest Northern Ireland. His role was to promote the growth of the Northern Ireland ICT sector through supporting existing companies in developing their business in global markets and seeking inward investment from overseas companies.
 
 




Frank Bryan,  Managing Director, Bryan Powercom Ltd
 
Frank Bryan is Managing Director of Bryan Powercom Ltd, a company which specialises in computer networking, fibre-optics and electrical contracting.  A former graduate of Queen’s University Belfast with an honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Frank served as President of The Engineering Society Q.U.B., a Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and a Chartered Engineer, Engineering Council U.K.
 
Frank also has previous business experience with International pharmaceuticals manufacturing company and is a currently a member of the Institute of Directors, Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, PLATO and Belfast City Vision.
 
Frank currently serves on the Northern Ireland Council for the Institute of Directors, the Economic Strategy Committee and Review of Public Administration [RPA].  He has also recently been appointed by Government Departments to “Working Group on Councillors’ Remuneration” and “RPA Implementation Taskforce”.
 
Appointed to the Northern Ireland Civic Forum in October 2000 Frank served on the central management committee.  He has also served on the Political Liaison committee, the “Building a Plural Society” project team and the steering committee with OFMDFM for the official Review of the Civic Forum. 
 
In November 2004 Frank represented Northern Ireland at British / Irish Encounter Conference on the theme “Small and Medium Enterprises – the Future of the Economy”.  Meanwhile in February 2005 he won an Entrepreneurship scholarship, visiting U.S.A. businesses in Washington DC, Austin Texas and Pittsburgh. 
 




David Abernethy
 
Logistics Manager Diageo Global Supply IBC LTD.
 
David Abernethy was educated atLoughryCollege and latterly completed an MBA with the Open University. He joined Express Foods in 1978 and has since worked with the Milk Marketing Board and Pritchitt Foods.
 

The joined Diageo in 2002 and is currently Logistics Manager at Marshalls Road in Belfast. The operation produces all of the bottle and can beer Diageo Brands and licenced brands including Guinness Draught in Can, Budweiser, Carlsberg and Harp, for the Island of Ireland.

 

Married to Joan with two (almost) grown up children, David has a keen interest in social history and traditional music.

 




Terry Canning  - Managing Director, Farm Wizard Ltd                

Terry graduated in 1995 with an MEng with Distinction from The Queens University of Belfast. Following graduation he spent 10 years working as a software and Technical Architect in the Telecommunications Industry for companies such as Nortel Networks and BT. During this time he worked inCanada,Silicon Valley and spent 1 year working in Bejing.

In Feb 2004 Terry had an idea that combined his 10 years IT experience with his background growing up on a dairy farm in Co Armagh and established the company FarmWizard Ltd. The company initially won an Invest Northern Ireland SMART award for innovation and now has over 200 farmers using the service throughout theUK. Recently the company won the 2005 E-Commerce Award for Best Use of Broadband 2005 and continues to rapidly grow its customer base with interest in the product coming from as far away asCanada andNew Zealand.
